Since their reestablishment in 1993, the Städtische Werke Borna have been responsible for the energy supply to households and companies in Borna.
Now the Städtische Werke Borna are able to control and optimise the consumption of oil and gas by using the energy optimisation system delivered by AllTec. Using this system, trends and prognoses are included into the energy optimisation process.

Storage reservoir
The Witznitz storage reservoir used to be a lake on the site of a former opencast mine and was converted into a flood control basin in 1950-1954. The dam was overhauled in 1995-1997. Furthermore, the storage reservoir serves as an untreated water supply for the Lippendorf power plant.
AllTec was responsible for the automation technology for the pumping of water from the Sermuth pump works near the Freiberger Mulde to the Witznitz storage reservoir.
